Affectionately known as the Pears by some of their fans, Worcestershire struggled to keep up the pace they set in three heady years in the late 1980s, when the team one two County Championships and
two Sunday League titles. But they have achieved sporadic success since and, regardless of results, watching cricket at the small but attractive New Road is almost always a pleasure. Notable
players to grace the field were England all-rounders Graeme Hick and the mighty Ian "Beefy" Botham, while, more recently, the likes of Elton John, Blue, Atomic Kitten and Busted have provided
different kinds of hits at the County Ground.
