Gloucestershire's early history is dominated by links with the Grace family, most notably the legendary W.G. Grace - the groundbreaking batsmen of the early 1990s who made cricket fashionable and developed techniques used today. The club have struggled to reach the heights achieved in those times, but have enjoyed notable success in the one-day game, particularly in the late 1990s and the early part of this century. Outstanding players of recent years include Jack Russell, Mark Procter and record-breaking West Indies captain Courtney Walsh.
