Arguably the best team to come out of Colchester are Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon, who met in a local school and went on to form Blur. But the Colchester side which beat Don Revie's mighty Leeds team 3-2 in the 5th round of the FA Cup in 1971 won an eternal place in the hearts of all U's supporters. Their other great achievement was winning the double in 1992 - albeit the Conference and (non-league) FA Trophy double. The Essex club, a relative youngster having been formed in 1937, have improved since and enjoy rivalry with Southend, Ipswich and Wycombe.
