When organising the Christmas party, whether it be for your colleagues, friends or a big family do, there are loads of potential venues in Birmingham city centre to choose from. Perhaps you're envisioning a cocktail bar or themed restaurant; but did it ever occur to you to go for the city's most iconic landmark itself?
That's right, Birmingham's Grade-II listed Council House is available for hire this Christmas, and with its ornate historical details and unique atmosphere, we challenge you to find anywhere more festive. The building has a storied past, hosting everyone from celebrities to the Royal Family, and over the festive period it could be your loved ones dining under its beautiful roof.
There are two spaces inside that would be perfect for a magical Christmas meal, starting with the Banqueting Suite. This ornate room is a stunning example of Victorian architecture and features marble columns, plasterwork and glittering chandeliers, as well as plenty of natural light. This space is quite unique thanks to the way it incorporates The Drawing Room and Reception Area, amounting to a total capacity of 450 guests when standing, perhaps for a drinks and canapes reception. But, with 350 guest capacity for seated dinners, it's still an incredibly impressive space.
Next up, the Chamberlain Room is a gorgeous place to hold a more intimate dinner, capable of hosting up to 40 guests when seated around the large, central table, or 50 people for drinks and canapes. With coral pink walls, a peppermint carpet and golden chandeliers, it's a pretty place to eat, drink and be merry.
When hiring any space at the Council House, expect all the mod cons including a dance floor, free wifi, cloakroom and well-stocked bar, as well as PA system, black out curtains and a projector, should you need one.
