A former minicab office is the unlikely setting for this café/bar-cum-unofficial workstation catering to iPad geeks from the Dalston Square designer development directly opposite. Briggs & Williams’ stark postmodern urban decor is juxtaposed with orange Toile de Jouy wallpaper, an antique carving of Jesus on the cross and a recess selling Blade & Blue’s preppy ties, tops and boxer shorts, while the menu is a European run through pastrami, Emmental cheese, sauerkraut and raclette toasties. Continental breakfast is served from 7.30am, ahead of quiches, salads, cakes teas and coffee. Boozy beverages include ales and fruit beers from Five Points, Harviestoun and Partizan, and there’s a short wine list featuring Carignan ‘vieilles vignes’, Galician Albariño and Prosecco.
