About

Despite its name and location on Cambridge’s once notoriously boozy King Street, there’s more to the Brew House than drink. Not that the craft beers should be overlooked: among the impressive variety offered, at least three of the pub’s own-brewed cask ales are available at any time. The fairly priced and well-balanced wine list is worth consideration, too. Customers (an affluent bunch) also come for well-executed pub food that often goes beyond traditional grub: think twice-cooked brisket of beef with BBQ sauce or pan-fried guinea fowl in bacon on smoked garlic and herb mash. Lighter meals of sandwiches, burgers and salads are also on hand. There’s a relaxed feel to the place, helped by cheerful staff and mismatched vintage furnishings. At weekends, a smart-casual crowd create a buzz – an alternative to the student scrummage that’s the norm hereabouts.
