A good option if you’re keen to have your wedding based out east but you still want the polish and sheen of a City or central London venue, modern and stylish Plateau restaurant (part of the D&D London portfolio) combines impressive cityscape views with a mid-century Manhattan interior – perfect for the Mad Men vibe of the surrounding Canary Wharf skyscrapers.
Sitting in a prime fourth-floor position at the top of Canada Place, the venue has views across the lawns and sculptures in Docklands’ Canada Square. Its glass frontage and partially glazed ceiling bathes the venue in natural light during the day and shows off London’s skyline at night.
With both a wedding and civil ceremony licence, Plateau is able to host services and wedding receptions and will comfortably hold 500 guests for a standing reception or 200 for a seated wedding breakfast. For smaller weddings there is the option of a private dining room with seating for 20 guests. An outside terrace area can also be booked privately and has space for up to 60.
Various set menus offer different amounts of choice depending on the number of your guests. Matching glasses of wines to each course is an option, while dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.
Choose from the likes of mushroom velouté with herb cream or ham hock terrine with marinated vegetables, grain mustard mayonnaise and garden leaves to start. Follow, perhaps, with fillet of beef with mushrooms a la crème, glazed vegetables and red wine sauce, roasted halibut with potato purée, grilled gem lettuce and crab and lemongrass sauce or a veggie option of vol-au-vent of wild mushrooms and Jerusalem artichoke with walnut and curly kale.
Finish it all off with warm treacle pudding with mixed berries and brown sugar ice cream, chocolate tart with caramel ice cream, or vanilla crème brûlée.
