London has no shortage of impressive wedding venues. We’ve handpicked a few of our favourites to help get you started
1. Daphne’s, SW3
USP Venetian aesthetics
Private dining 40
This South Kensington institution has been a go-to venue for weddings since the 60s and was recently refurbished by Martin Brudnizki, a doyen of design who’s brought a bit of Venetian flair to this lauded eatery. The on-site events team provides a bespoke service and has a little black book of trusted suppliers, who can source anything from calligraphers to musicians.
2. Institute of Contemporary Arts, SW1
USP Royal neighbours
Private dining 120
While Liz and Phil are sitting down to Midsummer Murders in Buckingham Palace, your guests could be stepping onto the dance floor at the neighbouring ICA, which is perhaps the best located wedding venue in London. Nestling on the Mall – between Buck Palace and Trafalgar Square – this vaunted institution has six sumptuous reception rooms, three of which can be adapted for dining.
3. Conservatory & Garden Room, EC2
USP The flora and fauna
Private dining 280
The Barbican’s rooftop Conservatory gives couples the unique opportunity to get married amidst exotic fish and tropical trees in Central London. This singular space seats up to 70 guests and is overlooked by the Conservatory Terrace, which itself can host 180 diners. The level-three Garden Room, a more conventional space with views across the city, can seat 280.
4. Searcys at the Gherkin, EC3
USP The views
Private dining 144
Located atop one of central London’s most iconic buildings, this two-floor restaurant offers sweeping 360-degree views of the capital that are sure to stun your guests. Up to 144 diners can be accommodated at this vertiginous eatery and the catering is taken care of by Searcys, so you’ll be in good hands.
5. Kensington Place, W8
USP Seasonal British cuisine
Private dining 110
This beloved Notting Hill nosh-house has a hard-earned reputation for seasonal British fare and is available for wedding parties. The bright and breezy main restaurant can seat up to 110 guests; if you’re looking for something more intimate there’s a high-vaulted private dining room called, simply, The Room, which seats 40.
