Milling Barn Weddings
Set in the beautiful North Hertfordshire countryside, Milling Barn at Bluntswood Hall is an idyllic and exclusive wedding venue on a family run farm.
The Milling Barn and Oak Barn are beautiful 17th Century oak barns, and the adjoining Dairy Barn is a converted milking parlour. The Oak Barn is licenced to hold civil weddings and partnerships. Alternatively, couples can get married in their local Church and come to Milling Barn for their wedding reception. The Milling Barn and the Dairy Barn both have licensed bars, can seat up to 144 and 120 respectively, but can equally be tailored to suit much smaller parties, ultimately offering a truly flexible wedding venue solution.
We have recently created a beautiful dressing room where you can prepare and get changed in, and this is available for your sole use throughout the day.
Outside you can enjoy the gardens, farm yard and acres of fields looking across the picturesque countryside which provide the perfect backdrop for your wedding day photographs.
Milling Barn boasts a truly gorgeous and romantic honeymoon suite with amazing views of the rolling Hertfordshire countryside. In addition, there are 7 en-suite bedrooms which are ideal for the wedding party, family, and friends.
Wedding guests at Milling Barn are wowed with delicious and mouth-watering food, and creative drinks which are provided by renowned catering company, The Chopping Block.
Milling Barn is exclusively yours as we do not take multiple wedding bookings for the same day, which gives you the freedom to be totally relaxed throughout your special day.
Capacity
We can tailor the different venues to suit any number of guests from small intimate parties, up to 144 for a sit down meal.
Wedding Ceremonies
Civil Marriages at Milling Barn
The Oak Barn at Milling Barn is licenced for civil weddings, partnerships and naming ceremonies. The wedding service is carried out by the Registrar, who must be contacted and booked by you. Milling Barn is registered with the Bishop’s Stortford Registration Office – T: 0300 123 4045; E: registrars.admin@hertfordshire.gov.uk. The Oak Barn can seat up to 144 guests, including the bride and groom.
Outdoor Weddings at Milling Barn
There is a beautiful outdoor wedding area behind the Oak Barn where civil weddings, partnerships and naming ceremonies can be conducted. The wedding service is carried out by the Registrar, who must be contacted and booked by you. Milling Barn is registered with the Bishop’s Stortford Registration Office – T: 0300 123 4045; E: registrars.admin@hertfordshire.gov.uk. There is an aditional charge of £300 for this and you must book the furniture yourselves.
Church Weddings
If you are planning on getting married in your local parish church, you can then come to Milling Barn for your wedding reception. Alternatively, we can supply contact details of local churches for blessings or services.
Wedding Receptions
After the wedding ceremony, drinks can be served in the Dairy Barn, or alternatively in the gardens. The enormous oak tree provides a fantastic backdrop for great photo opportunities. The meal is then served in The Milling Barn. Both wedding barns have dedicated bars, with music and dancing usually in The Milling Barn due to the large dance floor area. We have plenty of free parking for your guests, and cars can be left overnight.
Accommodation
Milling Barn has a stunning Honeymoon Suite overlooking the rolling Hertfordshire countryside, along with 7 beautiful en-suite bedrooms providing the ideal accommodation for the immediate wedding party, family and friends.

Thank you for your email - we had a wonderful day and really appreciated all the support all staff at Milling Barn but from Aimee specifically! She was amazing at ensuring the day ran smoothly whilst helping us to both stay calm which led to a relaxing and amazing day spent with all our nearest and dearest.
I also wanted to ensure feedback gets back to the Kitchen staff as we have had endless compliments on how delicious all the food was. Most notably from Adam’s dad, who is vegan and coeliac and often struggles to eat out where he is catered for and the food is good. He could not stop complimenting the food, saying it was the best food he’d had in nearly 20 years since he was diagnosed! So thank you. I will get round to writing up a formal review soon too.
Lauren and AdamOur wedding was everything we wanted and more. You have been organised, flexible and most important available to speak to whoever we have needed you. During our meetings you were transparent with all of our choices and the costs that would go with these. You were able to help us adapt the choices available to meet our needs. You and your colleagues organisation and management of the day was spot on and the day flowed seamlessly despite the rain. The food/drink both at the wedding breakfast and the evening were fantastic and a lot of our guests commented on how tasty the burgers were :) Milling barn is truely a beautiful venue which I am so pleased we were able to use for our special day.

Working with the venue team was extremely easy from the outset, and we got everything we wished for in our wedding day, and more. The venue is incredible and beautiful even without any additional decorations, the chef's at the Chopping Block are great, and very accommodating of special requests, and all other staff were fantastic.
