This year’s royal meet is taking place on 20-24 June, and promises to be another masterclass in corporate entertaining
. As well as providing a good excuse for everyone to dress up and have a flutter, it’s a prime spot to do business, with 12 fine-dining hospitality areas across the racecourse serving up dishes from some of the UK’s top chefs.
At this year’s preview race day, we began by sampling a starter from Raymond Blanc OBE. During Royal, he’ll be serving a delicate, yet punchy Cornish crab salad with coconut bisque in the Panoramic Restaurant. We were also treated to a rich main course that two-Michelin-starred Phil Howard will be dishing up in On 5: fillet of beef with an oxtail-stuffed potato, field mushrooms, truffle butter and red wine. Both dishes showcased simple ingredients cooked to perfection.
Among the restaurants open for Royal Ascot is the Panoramic
, which offers views over the racecourse and Great Windsor Park. Up on the fifth floor of the grandstand, the flagship On 5 is built around a sleek central bar area and has a private outdoor terrace. A fond favourite with dedicated racing fans, the Parade Ring Restaurant
features views of the Winners’ Enclosure that can be enjoyed through floor-to-ceiling windows and from a private balcony.
