Each week, we pick one of our favourite venues and explain why it’s made the cut

Victorian Bath House - venue hire

It’s hard not to notice the small, Turkish-style building in the Bishopsgate Courtyard if you happen to pass by. Once inside and downstairs, this exclusive-hire event space from Camm & Hooper will continue to surprise. Expect opulent decor and many of the original features from when it was a Turkish bath in the 1800s.

What’s so good about it?
All the fun details that decorate the interior. An inbuilt bath that you can fill with bottles of champagne is a lavish touch, and particularly fitting considering the venue’s history. We also love the deep-red curtains that hang from the ceiling, extravagant wallpaper patterns and huge oriental rugs. It’s best suited for receptions and dinners when you want to create a luxury atmosphere. The main room seats up to 90 for a sit-down dinner, while the Drinking Den is your pick for standing receptions.

Why do bookers love it?
The team here can curate your event to match exactly what you need, from helping with drink and menu development down to getting the right kitchenware. Menu suggestions are already strong though and take inspiration from the Victorian period. Hot suckling pig stuffed with apple and carved at the table is a real crowd pleaser. Add in period decanters that can be filled with sharing cocktails such as plum negroni, and you’re winning.
