After two years of refurbishment, the Hayward Gallery at the Southbank Centre will reopen in January 2018 to coincide with its 50th anniversary. It will also be the first time that bookers can exclusively hire the space for events.
Our favourite part of the refurb is that that the brutalist building’s iconic pyramid roof lights now let plenty of sunshine inside.
The first to dress the space is acclaimed German photographer Andreas Gurksy, known for creating large-scale works that capture commonplace scenes from modern life – talk about a backdrop. The exhibition will run from 25 January to 22 April 2018.
Breakfast hire (7-10:30am) is an option every day of the week, while lunchtime and evening hire is available on Tuesdays only.
