If you’re looking to host an overnighter for a smaller group, this Lake District hotel has sweeping views over Windemere and 62 lovely bedrooms designed by interiors queen Laura Ashley. Just 30 miles north west of London, Ashridge House is a Grade I-listed venue with a whopping 25 function rooms. Fairhaven is the largest of the bunch with a capacity for 250, but our favourite is the Lady Marian Alford for its panoramic views into the gardens and beautifully painted ceilings. Each room is supported by state-of-the art AV equipment and the on-site tech team.
