This week brought the welcome news that three of our favourite summer spots would be getting a makeover now temperatures have started dropping. And the three festive venues in question – Montague on the Gardens, Woody Bear and Pergola Paddington Central – are all open to hosting large groups.

Montague on the Gardens Christmas venue hire ski lodge

We love that the alpine pop-up on the wooden deck at Bloomsbury hotel Montague on the Gardens is available to book for private events Monday through to Friday from 16 November 2017 to 19 January 2018. The space will be decked out with pine trees, twinkling lights and plenty of artificial snow.

Packages start from £70pp and include a glass of mulled wine, a traditional turkey dinner, mince pies, half a bottle of wine and Christmas crackers. Evening events benefit from a DJ to create a real après-ski vibe. Get yours booked in here.

Woody Bear rooftop bar Sisu

Over on Oxford Street, Woody Bear will be the winter name for rooftop bar Sisu from 1 November. The decor here will be inspired by an abandoned urban fairground with tea cup rides, booths and animal see-saws.

Group menus from caterers Madame and Monsieur start from £20pp and celebrate all things cheese, with a top selection of croque monsieurs, baked pots of Mont d’Or for dunking sourdough into, and a classic raclette with potatoes to share. Oh and you can upgrade to include slices of truffle. Now we’re talking.

A private hut in the centre of the space can be hired for up to 40 guests, while exclusive hire on select dates can accommodate 100 when you book it in here.

Pergola Paddington Central winter 2017

Last but not least, Pergola Paddington Central reopened this week with full heating, blankets and winter greenery among the dark wood furnishings. Confirmed food vendors are stalwarts of the London food scene – including top ramen from Tonkotsu and burger beauties from Patty and Bun.

The addition of a clear roof is a big plus point too, meaning you can still see the stars while keeping toasty. It’s free to reserve a space for a group for up to 199 guests here, but this isn’t a private option. Ask to have an area sectioned off to give your group a more exclusive feel, and you’ll still benefit from the atmosphere of those partying around you.
