In the middle of Kensington Gardens, two of London’s most popular modern art galleries sit either side of the Serpentine. Established in 1970, the Serpentine Gallery is housed in a Grade II-listed tea pavilion. More recently, the Serpentine Sackler Gallery opened in a former gunpowder store: together the two spaces combine the sense of occasion of a listed building with the coolness of a contemporary art space. For food-first Christmas parties, the ultra-modern Magazine restaurant is able to host stylish drinks receptions and festive banquets. The industrial look of the Serpentine Sackler Gallery lends itself well to themed parties, while The Serpentine Gallery is a great spot for long-table banqueting alongside contemporary art.
