Pizarro is namesake Jose's smarter establishment in Bermondsey (head to Jose for more of a bustling tapas vibe). The tiled and wood-panelled dining room is utterly charming, not to mention, this is one of the best Spanish restaurants in the capital. 

Townsend, set inside the stunning Whitechapel Gallery, is pretty inviting as is, but the private dining room takes it to the next level with large glass doors that look onto the atrium of the museum. We love Hawksmoor's grand interiors and the Borough location has some of the group's best design touches. Plus, Hawksmoor always delivers on the food and drink front too, with steaks cooked to perfection and some of the classiest cocktails in the business.

If you’re looking to dine somewhere with a bit of history, the Great Northern Hotel is the perfect place to start. It’s taken residence at the same spot since 1845 and despite some refurbishments still has plenty of character and charm.
