SquareMeal Review of Meat People

London’s voguish ‘steakhouse & cocktails’ concept has landed in Angel with the launch of the Meat People – a carnivorous neighbourhood haunt that aims to satisfy the local appetite for red meat & sexy ‘retro’ libations. Occupying a Grade II-listed building that once housed a defunct branch of S&M Café, it touts grilled rib-eye, onglet & short ribs with chimichurri backed by a non-beefy supporting acts such as pan-fried sea bream with beetroot, broad beans & huancaina (a South American cheese sauce). Also expect a deliberately ‘quirky’ list of global wines.

Very special restaurant !! Grade 2 listed interior and facade. Warm vintage atmosphere, filled with history (former alfredo's in cult movie Quadrophenia) Excellent quality meat and vegetarian option with a Michelin star presentation!! Very reasonably priced when you know the ingredients are all locally sourced and chosen very carefully!! The menu changes regularly which makes it always a pleasure to visit! In short warm and cosy and charming with excellent quality food. A real gem!

Good dining..

I had the rib eye in here. The rest of the group had a selection of steaks or sea food. Really enjoyed it and the staff were so so nice to us. Really made a difference. And they weren't over the top like some places can be. Lovely little restaurant.

Nice place, good people, great food.

We have to say this is a great place to dine. I have had many a lunch and dinner at this place and it's really impressed me each time. They remembered us even the second time we went back. It's got great customer service at all times. And the food is quite unique.

Romance is back on

Went to dinner here with my husband the other day. I'd like to say that the atmosphere was really nice – mood lighting, candles, wood interior and really friendly staff. On top of this the food was spectacular. Only thing was it was quite busy – and we hadn't made a reservation so had to wait a couple of minutes- but we will be back. Steak to die for

This has to be my favourite place to dine now in Islington. They are always so nice when I get there and the food is out of this world. It's nice that there is finally a steakhouse where I live. Thanks MP!!!

Been here few times, its a really good comfortable place to be, cozy and friendly staff. Lunch is serve from 12 to 3 so its great for between work, quick bite before going to back to busy schedules. Don't really fancy the furniture and i think the place is too small. But the food is amazing, juicy steak and to find a nice steakhouse in the area is hard, this go to be the best here in islington. Dinner is served on good timing and good for any occasion. Has far as it goes, i will truly recommend the place to anyone.
