SquareMeal Review of Mori Sushi King's Road

Tailor-made for time-pressed, calorie-conscious King’s Road trendies, cute little Mori is built for takeaways and speedy pit-stops – provided you don’t mind ‘eating out of the box’ and paying at the counter. ‘Healthy Asian eating’ is the group’s mantra, and the result is a two-pronged attack involving ‘surprisingly good’ sushi followed by pots of frozen yoghurt. There are larger plates such as grilled chicken salad or salmon teriyaki with udon noodles too, but it’s the generous nigiri, ‘crystal’ rice-paper wraps and fro-yo (abundantly topped with anything from pomegranate to Oreo cookies) that sell it to Chelsea’s size-zero set. Party boxes are a good shout for larger groups, especially when accompanied by a flask of saké or an ice-cold Asahi beer. The bold, graphic interior is suitably current and cool, though much of Mori’s business involves deliveries well beyond SW3.

just had lunch at this sushi place, not only was the service bad but the place is not clean. I had 3 salmon sushis and 3 salmon-avocado ones for 6£, extremely expensive for the quality to be honest. The box had dripping water in it ( apparently because I was having lunch at 2.30 and that the food is fresh from the morning- doesn't really make you wan't to eat it !). I think I'm going to stick to my Itsu- lunch from now on !

Nice little sushi place on Kings Road for a quick pit stop, although I'm not quite sure who their regular clientele is. It's serving up takeaway style stuff: even if you eat in you're still eating out of the box, and you pay up at the tills, like any lunchtime sandwich shop, and then go and find a seat. But there's a large sit down area and the price point is well above the average for lunchtime takeaway: £12 for a box of sushi, although admittedly that was 3 bits of salmon sushi, 8 rolls and couple of bits of sashimi. The quality is surprisingly good though actually. And it is clean, light and airy. Not somewhere to make a special trip to, but definitely a nice alternative for lunch in an area dominated by either run-of-the-mill sarnie options or full on restaurants.

I've just eaten at the Mori Chelsea branch but had to return it as the salad inside the prawn rolls hadn't been washed and the overwhelming feeling of eating grit was too nauseating. They were graceless and unapologetic – I will not be returning.
