Will definitely be going again
My partner and I turned up after booking online to find a busy, cheery, welcoming place, with walls covered in clocks, and authentic French staff. Unfortunately they had no idea that we'd booked online but not a problem, they sat us down within minutes, and within only a few more minutes we had water, wine and beer on the table. The menu was exceptionally hard to choose from, not for any other reason than you wanted to eat EVERYTHING on it. I chose the spiced grilled king prawns on toast to start which were absolutely delicious - quite similar to prawns that I've had in tapas bars in Spain. Buttery and garlicky, not too spicy but a lovely heat that caught you up afterwards and lovely bread to mop up all the tasty juices afterwards. It was a very generous portion as well. My partner had the crispy duck with watercress salad which he wolfed down happily. For mains we both, very surprisingly (given the amount of choice), went for the same thing: the rump of lamb with herb crust and wow, am I glad we did! It was perfectly cooked to medium rare, it was tender, sliced almost as easily as butter, melted in the mouth with the perfectly seasoned and contrastingly crunchy crust making you want to savour every mouthful. The potato puree, carrots and spinach were just the icing on the cake. I was almost upset when I finished and honestly considered ordering another one. For dessert I tried the cafe gourmand which consisted of a tart, chewy, mini lemon macaron, a mini creme brûlée with that perfect "crack", and a rich, creamy mini chocolate mousse accompanied by an expresso coffee. My partner politely declined to assist me but was content with a coffee whilst he surreptitiously massaged his full stomach. I was so pleased that this had been such a lovely experience with fantastic food that was perfectly seasoned (a seemingly rare event in food establishments at the moment), a lovely atmosphere, very nice staff who were very helpful and attentive without being obtrusive... with 2 courses for £20 and 3 courses for £26 you can't do much better than this. I will definitely be dragging everyone I know to this restaurant one-by-one so I can try everything on the menu.

Sorry, you cannot spend SquareMeal vouchers here yet.
