Like its Soho sibling, this cool neon-lit restaurant serves up futuristic fun alongside a menu of pan-Asian favourites. Your table doubles as an entertainment centre: spy on the kitchen with ‘Chef Cam’, play retro video games of Pong, or choose the design of your place settings (upload photos beforehand to create a personalised tabletop montage). This branch occupies three floors, including a stylish basement bar, and the kitchen features a robata grill. Place your order via iPad, and dishes (all made for sharing) arrive courtesy of the friendly, helpful staff. We began with nicely spiced Korean chicken wings and dumplings filled with tender squid and spring onion. Next, DIY duck pancakes arrived with herb salad, and miso black cod delivered classic silky textures. Well-executed sushi and sashimi, chicken satay, Wagyu beef and Thai curries are also offered. Sip on Saké Mojitos, Kirin beer or wines chosen to match the food.

About

The Covent Garden branch of futuristic London micro-chain Inamo brings top notch pan-Asian cuisine, as well as their famous interactive tables, to another prime London location. The Covent Garden restaurant sees you order your food via fully touch-sensitive tables and then while you’re waiting for it to arrive you can entertain yourselves by playing games, drawing pictures or changing the design of your interactive table top. Choose to either play with your entire party or split your table up into individual screens that allow you to dictate your personal enttertainment.

The Inside of Inamo Covent Garden is typical of all of their restaurants with dim lighting allowing for the tables to glow; wooden panels and elaborate patterns line the walls, with a bright bar lit up from below. Everything about Inamo Covent Garden is cool, slick and modern whilst maintaining some of the feeling of a traditional Asian restaurant.

The food offering is all based around sharing, with the huge menu giving diners the opportunity to create a real feast. Tapas-style dishes include classics such as sweet chilli prawn tempura, beef tataki, and bang bang cauliflower. A wide range of sushi and sashimi can also be enjoy with options such as seared salmon maki and New York rolls on offer amongst others.

On top of this the menu features a separate yakitori section with both veggie and meat options available. Larger sharing dishes include a plate of sizzling black pepper beef fillet and Korean BBQ ribs, with miso soup and rice both available to have on the side. To finish, why not try one of Inamo’s baked Alaskas or perhaps a chocolate fizz fondue.

Accompanying the amazing food, Inamo’s long drinks list features an impressive selection of cocktails such as a raspberry mojito and a lychee martini. There’s also a decent selection of wines and beers available, or for something a little more traditional why not try some of the sake on offer if you can handle it.

Extremely disappointing

Very disappointing. Screens and games weren't as good/exciting as expected and not set up to play someone opposite you. Food just thrown at you but was ok - ribs were good. However was very busy, dirty and no ambiance - was expecting something more up market. Called waiter twice from screen and they never came. We were being pushed for our table but hadn't received desserts - waiter didn't believe we'd ordered them so had to show her on screen - unfortunately I'd ordered chocolate fondant so was going to be a while - but lo and behold after 20 mins wait it did arrive - stone cold! Had to call manager and she apologised and took it and my partners dessert off the bill and agreed we would not pay service charge which had need automatically added on.. was still over £100 for two. Extremely disappointing and all I put on booking it was my partners birthday but nothing done. So not a great start to our special weekend in London - won't be going back or recommending it!

The food is one of the tastier Indian food ever eaten. The restaurant is busy with high noise levels and people waiting for tables outside. Book in advance. They might have some tables that are less noisy to eat at.

Very tasty and fun, but way too much food and more pricey than I expected.

Had a few problems getting our interactive table to work. Would be better if they had a proper scroll button as it kept jumping back to the start. Booked well in advance hoping to order from the normal menu, but was told on arrival they were only doing the valentine's menu. Way to much food for myself and my 10 year old daughter. And a pricey set price too! We were told we had the table for 75mins and this went by very quickly and we felt quite rushed. We only ordered our dessert in the last 10 mins and there was so much food left over. What we ate was beautifully presented and really tasty and though. And the interactive table was a hit, despite it's glitches. Just wish I'd been informed of the set valentines menu only thing in advance.

Quick service, fun menu ordering and restaurant experience. Even though it was extremely cold outside they still had cold aircon blasting out through the restaurant which was quite cold. Food was really tasty and would recommend the pork belly but not the bao buns which were soggy.

Food was below average, not a pass for Japanese cuisine. The orange juice tasted like condensed juice adding water which I expected fresh juice for the price. Most of the dish was just too salty.

It was on the list of kids-friendly restaurants in London but somehow it wasn't. The table was great with games for my child to play on but it was too noisy like in a bar, not suitable for young toddlers to stay for long. He has been wanting to leave and being impatient.

AVOID if you like quality food at a reasonable price

Awful. I booked this based on the look and feel of the website, other reviews and the attraction of a style of food we love and interactive tables for the kids.

We were a party of 5 but they just use a table for 4 and stick a chair on the end meaning it's too cramped plus one person is stuck out in the aisle and can't access the interactive menu. First strike. When we asked to be relocated we were told no as these were their tables for 5....when clearly they are not.

As we had 2 children and no alcohol drinkers we figured the a la carte menu would be better versus the £40 per head all you can eat approach. Strike two. The dishes are ridiculously expensive for their size and quality. Same with the drinks. You order a diet coke...at the very least expecting a full can and get a tiny tumbler for nearly a fiver.

The portions are TINY but worse, the food is terrible. Super greasy and tasting burnt yet served lukewarm. The dishes came out like fast food yet we had to wait ages for a burger for one of the children. They charge £12.50 for the equivalent of 4 chicken nuggets. The whole bill was astronomical for the amount of food we had and the quality.

The toilet were also dirty and a load of hair came out of one of the taps as my son turned it on.

One of the worst eating out experiences I've had in a long time.

The bottomless brunch may work for some but I would AVOID!

It spoilt the start of our Christmas day in London with friends.

Funky Concept, needs polish

Great quirky concept, with a few niggles to be ironed out. The food was good, nothing blew my socks off, but it was decent sushi and pan-asian tapas. The concept with the interactive tables is great, but would be better if it was refined a little bit (things like hiding menus that are unavailable etc).

The restaurant was a bit dark, but not surprising given the concept. One slightly weird thing was the bill appeared without being asked, almost as though we were being instructed to leave the table, even though the restaurant was not that busy, would have been nice to have been asked something like "is there anything else you would like" rather than the bill jsut unceremoniously arriving.

Having said that, I had a very enjoyable meal and would consider it again. Would be interesting to check out their other location.
