Set in Glasgow’s Princes Square, Zibibbo is an all-day contemporary casual dining restaurant from husband-and-wife team Andy and Emma MacSween. Known for Vroni's Wine Bar, Malo and Ralph & Finns, this latest venture offers a versatile space for everything from morning coffee to fun but elegant evenings out.
Located in the former Buzzy Wares basement space, Zibibbo is a large restaurant, accommodating up to 120 diners across high-top tables, counter stools, and earthy banquette seating. The space incorporates a mix of metal and wood finishes, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere complemented by a striking tiled bar. A mezzanine level adds an extra dimension to the experience, evoking a sense of alfresco dining while remaining comfortably indoors, protected from the Glaswegian weather. In the evenings, however, expect a lively but intimate atmosphere, with live DJ sets on Saturday nights.
The Zibibbo menu focuses on quality ingredients and fresh flavours, suitable for any time of day. Small plate options include baked feta with honey, thyme, and toasted sesame; red pepper croquettes with an olive emulsion; and king scallops with caramelized cauliflower, fish roe, leek, and a chicken velouté. Larger plates, meanwhile, have included options like hot smoked salmon with candied fennel and apple, fried polenta with ricotta and beetroot, and lamb loin with asparagus, pesto, and couscous. For something sweet, finish with sticky ginger pudding or an indulgent chocolate cremeux with blood orange and coffee biscuit.
True to its name, which is inspired by the Zibibbo grape used in Sicilian wines, the restaurant boasts an impressive selection of tipples. Along with orange wine and cocktails, the extensive list includes a broad range of sparkling wines available by both glass and bottle, perfect for pairing with the diverse menu options.
