Housed on a cutesy street by Sloane Square, this two-floor, plant-based restaurant is well suited to the genteel Chelsea crowd. While vegan joints often get a bad rep for sloppy interiors and uninspired dishes, Wulf & Lamb bucks the trend with a smart pastel colour palette and an all-day menu. In the early hours, guests can chow down on grab-and-go breakfasts and pastries downstairs, while upstairs is for those looking to have a lingering lunch or dinner. Despite having all the hallmarks of a restaurant proper, guests here order their food at the counter, which is rather off-putting. Otherwise, Wulf & Lamb impresses; the menu is replete with vegan alternatives to popular dishes, including a spicy, meaty chilli ‘non’ carne served with a dollop of cashew sour cream, and a hearty seitan burger served in a brioche bun and topped with plant-based cheese. From a small selection of sides, we’d recommend the smoky char-grilled broccoli, or the creamy, pull-apart mac ’n’ cheese for those looking for a little more indulgence. Come dessert, guests can pick from a selection of baked goods (including doughnuts and bundt cakes) or the likes of a melt-in-the-mouth mango and passionfruit cheesecake topped with delicate raspberry crumble, and a rich tiramisu topped with a decadent brandy and vanilla cashew cream. To drink, there are wines, Champagnes and gluten-free beers, while the more restrained can sip on cold-press juices or non-alcoholic spirits. Wulf & Lamb hopes to expand its restaurant portfolio – ditch the counter service and this concept certainly has room to grow.
