The Lifeboat is a classic inn; step through our door and you can feel the history that is soaked into the very timbers of the building. Order a drink at a bar which has served guests for generations, sit by the fireplace which has kept winter’s chill at bay through the ages, and enjoy the same welcoming atmosphere that has existed here for centuries. We serve excellent traditional food, a great selection of ales, wines and spirits, and have sixteen special rooms where you can spend a night or two in comfort.
We’re set on the very edge of Thornham village, overlooking the fields and beautifully unspoilt expanses of salt marshes. This unique landscape changes throughout the year and is a haven for wildlife – away from the inn often the only thing you’ll hear is the sound of birds, and the waves rolling on to the nearby beach. We’re an oasis of calm in an increasingly busy world - visit us and feel the peace and tranquility around you.

Our inn may be historic, but our rooms are thoroughly modern. We’ve got sixteen double bedrooms for you to choose from, each stylishly decorated, each with its own personality. They’re the perfect places to enjoy a restful retreat on the North Norfolk coast.
Our rooms have pristine en-suite bathrooms, King size wooden beds with crisp white bed linen, duck down duvets and pocket sprung mattresses. All are equipped with smart TVs, free wifi access plus tea and coffee making facilities. We’re dog friendly too - well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay in our rooms at a charge of £17.50 per dog, per night.

This is simply an incredible part of the world. The beaches are wide swathes of golden sand, fringed with grass-covered dunes, and the skies are simply vast. We’re close enough to the sea that you can enjoy spectacular views across the marshes to the distant horizon.
Around the village are the distinctive salt marshes which give way to woodland and open fields. This is prime walking country, with interesting journeys in every direction. It’s a place for stretching the legs, spotting wildlife, taking in sea views and breathing clean air. It’s somewhere you can leave behind the trials of modern living and simply let yourself relax.
