Sheffield is a city in South Yorkshire with a population of over 500,000, making it England’s fourth largest city. With so many inhabitants and visitors, it’s a buzzing and exciting space to spend a day, night, or weekend.

Sheffield is surprisingly green - in fact it has the highest ratio of trees to people for any city in Europe - owing in part to the fact that around 33% of the city lies within the Peak District. That there is so much green space makes Sheffield a great city for a relaxed getaway.

On the other hand, the city is also incredibly urban. Nicknamed the ‘Steel City’ after its role in producing steel in the Industrial Revolution, it’s a modern and thriving location. Independent micro-pubs, lively bars, and a vast range of food on offer in its many restaurants make Sheffield a great spot both to visit and live in. The West Street Strip in the city centre is always full of life on a night out, and Sheffield boasts plenty of iconic cultural spots, including its longest running live music venue and nightclub, The Leadmill, which opened in 1980.

When it comes to dining in Sheffield, you’re certainly not short on choice, with a huge food landscape stretching across the city. Going for dinner in Sheffield means choosing between Greek and French, Indian and Japanese, Italian and Moroccan, weighing up restaurants, bars, pubs, gastro-pubs galore. There are restaurants in Sheffield for every kind of meal you could be looking for, meaning the city is a great choice for your next foodie trip.
