Fans of the much-missed Donostia Social Club in Pop Brixton will be pleased to find some of its signature dishes on the menu at this spin-off that’s operated by the same team. Like its sibling in Tooting, this casual, no-reservations tapas bar also includes a deli and wine shop, where you’ll find a brilliant selection of regional Spanish bottles, plus sherry and Spanish vermouth, all available to drink in or take away. Interesting by-the-glass choices are perfect for pairing with the Basque-style tapas. Highlights include boquerones, vibrantly layered with Piquillo peppers and drizzled with lemon oil; juicy octopus with yellow pepper sauce and samphire; and wickedly fatty confit pork belly on a bed of soft morcilla with pear purée. We also love well-executed staples such as pan con tomate or Padrón peppers, plus cracking olives, jamón and cheese too. Linger over a chocolate and macadamia brownie, coated in a delightfully sticky PX sherry glaze.
