Often, a great restaurant experience isn't about the fanciest ingredients or a particularly elegant setting, but how that food is sourced, prepared and presented to you. The Links in Tenby is a relaxed setting where you can enjoy simple food, brilliantly done. The expert team are all about creative cooking and memorable flavours. At the helm is head chef Duncan Barham, who, within less than a year has earned several accolades.
To start, order the hot smoked salmon with cucumber with buttermilk and chive, and pickled fennel, or the local wood pigeon with sweet and sour plums, black pudding and lamb's lettuce. There's also heritage tomato with buffalo mozzarella, a tuna and watermelon carpaccio, chicken liver parfait and smoked beetroot with whipped goat's curd. Main courses on The Links menu, might include classic Pembrokeshire beef roast fillet with slow cooked short rib, smoked mash and shitake mushrooms, or the Cornish cod in a bisque sauce with saffron gnocchi, samphire and fennel. There's also a rump of Welsh lamb, wild line-caught sea bass with cockle chowder and sea greens, barbecue saddleback pork, and heritage carrot with Greek spiced, yoghurt, onion and chickpeas.
Make your meal at The Links more of a feast and add delicious sides, like the soy and garlic fried greens, balsamic and rosemary baby potatoes and dauphinoise potatoes with truffle mayo. To finish, it has to be something sweet for us. We love the sound of the lemon meringue with almond and polenta cake, lemon thyme cream, lemon sorbet, thyme meringue and blueberry. But, if you are more inclined to end on a savoury note, try the Snowdonia black bomber cheddar with fig jam and oat biscuits – you won’t be disappointed.
