Olly and Rebecca Jackson have made quite a name for themselves at this pre-Tudor manor house in the Somerset countryside. Describing itself as a restaurant with rooms, the hotel may be very comfortable and well appointed, but the kitchen is what it’s all about. Expect an individual take on modern British cooking at Langford Fivehead, using meticulously sourced local ingredients from their own kitchen gardens and orchard, and fish from Cornish and Dorset dayboats. Based on the best produce available, the short menu changes every week, and from the warm canapés with pre-dinner drinks out on the beautiful terrace (or by the fireside in winter) to apple crumble soufflé to finish, it’ll be a carefully prepared, balanced and beautifully served gastronomic journey.
