About The Den at St Martins Lane hotel
This classically British, oak-panelled snug-style restaurant within St Martin’s Lane Hotel is an ideal place to meet with friends or family, with its comfortable leather sofas and warm lighting.
Majoring in an all-day menu as well as afternoon tea, no matter what time of the day you drop in at there’ll be something to suit your needs. For the latter the selection includes fresh savoury bites such as muffins studded with olives, courgette and feta cheese. Sweets-wise, nibble on vanilla panna cotta, hazelnut rocher and clotted cream-slathered scones. All of this is washed down – naturally – by your choice of tea. On milder afternoons or during the summer months, the terrace is an excellent place to try out the G&T selection, which is inspired by the vibrant artworks on the walls inside. Complimenting the drinks list perfectly is The Den’s range of sharing boards, which can be tailored to an individual portion or made in a large sharing size.
Back in the dining room, and if it’s something more substantial you’re after, then the main all-day menu offers up plenty of crowd-pleasing classics alongside some more contemporary plates. From soups and salads through to sandwiches, burgers and main courses – there should be dishes to suit all tastes. For something fresh try the heritage tomato salad with burrata or the plant-based burger, which is topped with three cheese and served with your choice of sweet potato chips, fries or salad (if you’re feeling extra virtuous). Larger mains include a seafood pasta, a mushroom and spinach risotto or a wonderfully simple steak frites with bearnaise sauce.
Sweets are worth saving room for and include plenty of options too. The caramel chocolate tart is perennially popular, as is the generous slice of tiramisu. For fruit fans choose between the exotic mango cheesecake or a raspberry éclair.
