Located on the first floor of the iconic McCormick’s Printers building – ‘doon the lane’, just off Buchanan Street – this famous Glasgow chippie has been selling its wares to an eager public since 2007. The choice of sustainable fish runs to coley, lemon sole and monkfish, all prepared in exemplary traditional fashion and served with hand-cut chips – plus extras such as mushy peas, pickled eggs and curry sauce. There are also some unexpected appetisers including haggis bites and duck spring rolls, plus alternatives in the shape of Cajun spiced salmon fillet, Stornoway black pudding, roast chicken and king ribs. To drink, go flash with cocktails, Prosecco and Champagne, if more than a cheering cuppa is required. ‘Fish teas’ and suppers for two are much appreciated, and the venue has two private dining spaces, including a covered ‘marquee’ on the roof terrace.
