Picnic was established in 2016 by Michelle Morrow to offer a healthy and ethical alternative to other Merchant City eateries. It's a bright, relaxed space that is welcoming to all, including your furry friends, and places whole, organic food at the heart of its concept.
It has become a fast favourite within the vegan community thanks to its sustainable approach. Most of the ingredients are locally and sustainably sourced and all of the packaging is recycled or fully biodegradable. Picnic aims to serve up good quality, healthy and, most importantly, delicious food that shares their passion for vegan and organic ingredients.
Serving food throughout the day, the menu is incredibly varied from classic breakfasts, to sandwiches, wraps and hot savoury dishes. The vegan waffles are definitely a menu highlight with a coconut whipped cream and drenched in an indulgent caramel syrup. At lunchtime, you can't miss out on Picnic's sandwiches. The Pastramheat salad sandwich is filled with award-winning pastramheat, a cashew creme, spinach, tomatoes and crunchy sauerkraut; while, the Tuno melt baguette uses vegan cheese for that perfect melted toastie.
On Saturdays, Picnic runs an a la carte bistro menu from 6:30pm with vegan, savoury mains that are followed by an array of desserts. Sweet treats are a speciality as many are homemade recipes created by the passionate team and the flavours change daily. One staple on the menu is the classic empire biscuit - iced and sandwiched with fruity jam. Picnic has even managed to transform the local delicacy of the Scottish snowball into a vegan option; vegans don't have to miss out on this famous bakery item with a coconut covered vegan sponge and a jam centre.
Throughout the day, guests can enjoy a range of teas and coffees as well as healthy soft drinks like kombucha. Alongside the a la carte is a selection of wines and beers to compliment your evening meal.
