Ben and Sam Harmer warmly welcome you to enjoy their carefully crafted menu using the very best of local and home grown produce in Truro, Cornwall. Penrose Kitchen is set in an idyllic location surrounded by lily ponds and the beautiful water gardens close by, serving lunch and dinner from Wednesday through to Saturday.
If you’re lucky with the weather you can enjoy al fresco dining on the decked terrace, where you may like to sip an aperitif and order some starters. Starters are made using many local ingredients such as the twice baked Davidstow Cheddar souffle served with parsley and Trewithen cream, and the Duchy venison carpaccio served with melon, spring onion and soy.
Evening mains look equally as impressive, with offerings such as Etherington’s 28 day hung beef fillet served with pommes dauphinoise, roasted shallot, buttered hispi cabbage and a rosemary sauce. Vegetarians can enjoy dishes such as roasted beetroot cooked with sage, orzo, lemon olive oil, Cornish blue, Brazil nuts and soft herbs.
If you are looking for something sweet you will find a good selection of desserts including chocolate and rosemary ganache, Trewithen yoghurt panna cotta, and a warm polenta and almond cake served with Trewithen clotted cream and toffee sauce. You can also go for the cheese slate which includes Miller Damsels biscuits and a selection of Cornish cheeses such as Cornish fenugreek gouda, Cornish blue, stilton, and Montgomery Cheddar.
This peaceful and welcoming restaurant is open from Wednesday to Saturday, serving lunch from 12 noon until 2.30pm. Dinner bookings are from 6pm, and there is a Sunday lunch menu which is served from 12 noon through to 6pm.
Children are welcome to dine at Penrose Kitchen until 6pm.
