SquareMeal Review of Giraffe Richmond

Go around the world in 80 minutes at Giraffe, the globally inspired chain that dares to put edamame, za’atar-spiced naan & Thai stir-fries on one menu. Not only that, it adds sunny-natured waiters, a soundtrack of peppy world beats, & some groovy smoothies to the animated mix. The result? An eatery you can trust for a not-too-intimate date or family meal with hard-to-please ‘tweens & teens. The assault of colourful options, from breakfasts to sharing plates, desserts to coffees, should suit those wanting to please larger groups, but purists may find it all a bit like ersatz ‘fusion’. A full list of wines, beers & cocktails is bolstered by bottles of Brooklyn lager & Rekorderlig cider aimed at the hipper customer. Around-the-clock deals help to keep bills down.

To make up for a bad breakfast I had a late lunch at Giraffe in Richmond. I've reviewed Giraffe before when I had breakfast in Hampstead last summer. I'm happy to say that this visit was much much better. The staff are amazing in Richmond, really really brilliant in fact. The place was packed and it's a proper family restaurant with lots of children running around. There is a children's menu plus lots to keep them occupied. We bagged a full English breakfast and chicken club sandwich. The menu is substantial with lots of choice. Both rocked up in good time and looked good. More importantly they tasted good as well. First the full English. The bacon was lightly grilled so no grease. The sausage was gorgeously tasty. The eggs perfectly fried. All good. The chicken club sandwich was a thick, perfectly grilled breast served on a toasted bun with a great side of wedges. Delicious. Our lunch came in at £20 including service. Perfect. Really the staff made lunch today. Brilliant. For more reviews search for Eatreview Blog.
