Cheesey does it: London’s best cheeseboards

As you may have noticed, it’s National Chocolate Week until Sunday. With so many events and offers across London, we couldn’t help but answer the question that’s really on everybody’s lips: what about cheese? We love a cheeky Camembert chunk on a cracker for afters (or before, or in the middle – and actually, forget the cracker), so in the name of equality for all end-of-dinner options, we present to you London’s best cheeseboards.

The cheese trolley at these odes to all things Scottish is not to be missed: a great glass globe on wheels awaits you, filled with British artisan farmhouse cheese.

City Social Cheeseboard London restaurant

This isn’t just any cheese board; this is a Jason Atherton cheese board. Indulge in a premier selection on a grand wooden trolley, which the staff at both City and Pollen Street will enthusiastically talk you through.

Antidote London Soho restaurant wine bar cheese board

Antidote, Soho (above)

This buzzing wine bar is hidden down a quiet and quaint alley, leaving you to concentrate on the serious business of nibbling on Cardo (goats’ cheese from Somerset), Hafod (Welsh cow’s cheese), Pont d’Yeu (French goats’ cheese) and more.

Medlar, Chelsea

With a cheese list often raved about, this Modern European winner from a pair of Chez Bruce graduates sources cheese from Marble Arch cheesemongers Buchanan’s, as well as Beillevaire in France.

Vivat Bacchus London Bridge

Vivat Bacchus, Farringdon and Southbank (above)

With an actual cheese room (yes, a whole chamber of cheddar) in both branches, Vivat Bacchus promise that they will always have between 45 and 50 European varieties to choose from. Yes. Please.

What’s that? You still want chocolate? FINE. Here’s the restaurant from the people behind Hotel Chocolat, where the menu is basically a chocolate pile-up sprinkled in cocoa. It’s called Rabot 1745 and you’ll find it next to Borough Market – you mustn’t leave without trying the pork shack (cacao-glazed pork fillet, maple pecan bacon, pork belly, cacao beer-braised cheek and apple sauce).

Don’t say we don’t cater to your every need.

We suggest you also check out our round-up of London’s best wine lists. For what is cheese without wine?
