The Leadenhall Building (aka The Cheese Grater) officially opened up for business this week and, as if by magic, local office workers have had their lunchtime ponderings answered: we can exclusively reveal that Asian breakfast and lunch joint Yum Som will open on Monday 2 November.
And you won’t want to miss this opening offer…
At midday on Tuesday 3 November, the first 200 people through the door after midday will receive a free lunch (either a Yum Sub or one of the menu's freshly prepared salad choices, along with a Press cold-pressed juice), then on Friday 6 they’ll be giving away 200 egg and bacon shao bing flatbreads from 7am. Yes London, it’s a Yum Som shao bing bonanza. Try and say that at 7am.
Open Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm, a Yum Som day will start with smoothie bowls (above) and spiced porridge, or a shao bing: an unleavened Chinese flatbread (below). Lunchtime means healthy and zingy salads, layered with rice, noodles, vegetables, fruit and meat or tofu, finished with Asian herbs and tailor-made dressings. Alternatively, choose from rice paper rolls, Asian-themed subs and cleansing soups. Everything is available to eat in or take away, although being unlicensed means you’ll be forgoing the booze for juices and coffee.
Yum Som is the latest from Ed and Tom Martin (the ETM Group), the guys behind City favourites including The Jugged Hare, The Botanist and Chiswell Street Dining Rooms – so it’s safe to say that it comes from great pedigree.
