It’s been more than
a year since Polpetto closed its doors above The French House pub on Soho’s Dean Street. After keeping Londoners waiting while they searched for the perfect site, Russell Norman and his team have
finally revealed that Polpetto 2.0 will relaunch on nearby Berwick Street this November.
Polpetto’s former head chef Florence Knight will reprise her role at the restaurant, this time with the title of executive head chef. At the new restaurant, from her post in the open kitchen, she
will be responsible for 70 covers (as opposed to the original’s 23 seats). The restaurant will also boast an aperitivo bar.
‘We have had almost daily enquiries about the return of Polpetto since we left The French House, and we have been incredibly particular about finding the right Soho location for the restaurant and
for Florence,’ said Norman. ‘To be able to relaunch Polpetto in old Soho and within Berwick Street fruit-and-veg market represents our dream scenario.’
Polpetto occupied the first floor of The French House for two years, but the dinky space proved too small for the demand produced by its critical acclaim and local popularity. Its move to Berwick
Street will see it become neighbours with street-food favourites such as Pizza Pilgrims; meanwhile, two more high-profile restaurant launches will join Polpetto later this year.
