Cyrus Todiwala set to spice up Waterloo

Cyrus_Portrait.jpgChef and restaurateur Cyrus Todiwala will open a new restaurant in Waterloo early next year. Named Assado and described as a ‘journey through Portuguese cuisine’, it is a new direction for the Mumbai-born chef, who is known in London for his Indian food.

The venture will be Todiwala’s third restaurant, after Café Spice Namaste near Tower Bridge and Mr Todiwala’s Kitchen at Heathrow Airport.

Assado will open as part of the Hampton by Hilton London Waterloo hotel which is currently nearing completion at 157 Waterloo Road, close to The Old Vic theatre.

As well as his restaurant businesses, Todiwala also has a range of Indian condiments and sauces called Mr Todiwala's, which are available in many delis and supermarkets, and he recently appeared alongside Tony Singh in BBC2 documentary series The Incredible Spice Men.
