Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is back for 2019, and the line-up looks stellar.
The festivities will kick off with a production of Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Our Town. Running from 16 May to 8 June, the critically-acclaimed play is an exploration of what it truly means to be alive, touching on the universal themes of birth, marriage and death.
Our Town’s run will be followed by the second collaboration (following last year’s success) from Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and English National Opera, who will present Engelbert Humperdinck’s opera, Hansel and Gretel.
The theatre comes alive during the summer months
There are other not-to-be-missed highlights too, including the return of A Midsummer Night’s Dream to the theatre following a seven year absence, and a spectacular concluding play from legendary theatre connoisseurs Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, who will thrill the crowds with their production of Evita.
A night at the theatre (whether it’s outdoors or not) simply isn’t complete without some Champagne and nibbles. The Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre does have a restaurant, but for a quintessentially English summer experience, we’d recommend pre-booking a hamper to enjoy in the reserved picnic seating area. Hampers start at £52.50 for two, but for £92 you can get a two-person Luxury Champagne Hamper which includes a bottle of Canard Duchêne Champagne and a delicatessen range of food selected by the head chef.

Canard-Duchêne have been the proud Champagne Sponsors of the theatre for many years. Canard-Duchêne is found not in the urban setting of Reims or Epernay, but on the hillsides of Ludes. At the heart of the Montagne de Reims vineyards, this unusual location is just one of the many aspects that ensure Canard-Duchêne is unique and makes the partnership with the beautiful settings of Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre so special.
The theatre offers the delicate and expressive Charles VII Rosé by the bottle – you’ll love those red fruit aromas. The seductive and elegant Cuvée Léonie, with its toasted and slightly spicy aromas, is offered by the glass, by the bottle and, for that extra special touch, by the magnum. Canard-Duchêne is available at the bars, the grill and the covered dining areas.
Alternatively treat yourself to the Canard-Duchêne Luxury Champagne Hamper for Two, with reserved picnic seating before the show and a programme. Your bottle of Canard-Duchêne Champagne will be accompanied by a delicatessen selection of food carefully selected by the head chef, for the perfect outdoor dining experience.
You can also order your pre-theatre Champagne Canard-Duchêne ahead of your visit, and make some great savings. Present your voucher at the bar and Champagne will be served in an ice bucket with glasses.
