Found in Nunhead, Napura is one of few Portuguese restaurants in South East London, which serves an extensive all-day menu of traditional and contemporary Portuguese dishes.
The dining room here is a relaxed and airy space, featuring light yellow walls, bare tables and a sparkling chandelier which hangs from the center of the ceiling. Large windows which overlook the street outside flood the space with natural light during the day, while at the back of the venue you can find a cosy outdoor seating area and shisha garden, which is covered and comes equipped with heaters to protect against the elements.
Napura’s menu is an all-day affair which kicks off with breakfast. Early risers can stop by to enjoy hot drinks including Lattes and Americanos, while breakfast and brunch options see the likes of scrambled eggs on toast or fluffy pancakes with bacon. There are a few baked goods available too, such as a chocolate brownie or the signature Portuguese sweet treat of a pastel de nata.
Later in the day, Napura’s menu expands to the traditional three course format. You can begin your meal with starters such as grilled chorizo or smoked ham with melon, before moving on to main courses including 1/4 chargrilled piri-piri chicken paired with your choice of French fries or vegetable rice, or grilled tuna steak served with green beans and baby potatoes. There is also the option to take your pick from a selection of burgers and sandwiches - think a classic chicken burger or a bacon, egg and cheese baguette.
To round off your meal, tuck into tempting puddings such as Bolo de bolacha (a coffee and cookie cake) or Peras Bebedas: poached pears, cooked in red wine and Porto wine. Drinks wise, expect Portuguese wines, beers, classic cocktails and fresh fruit juices.
