About MK Bar & Grill
This attractive new brasserie aims to please the tricky local demographic of posh locals, Imperial College students and visitors to South Ken’s museums and the Royal Albert Hall. It succeeds brilliantly. Friendly staff, imaginative modern cooking and a well-priced wine list with craft beers and cocktails are irresistible, and the flexible layout works for lunch or dinner, breakfast or casual coffees, family celebrations and hot dates. It’s crisp and stylish, with polished wooden floors, comfortable leather booths and regular tables, with pavement seating outside. A dramatic painting by Scottish artist Gerard Burns dominates one wall and large windows flood the room with daylight. Alongside comforting food like French onion soup, rich spaghetti carbonara and boeuf bourguignon, there’s seared tuna or shredded duck salad, deliciously spicy chicken with chickpeas and couscous, and a standout dish of baked cod with Puy lentil broth. Steaks come from award-winning butcher, Donald Russell. Great stuff.
