The focus at this no-frills pizzeria is on seasonal ingredients, carefully sourced from organic and artisan producers. A short list of just six pizzas is on offer, with no starters, sides or puds.
Choices include the basic ‘daisy’ (tomato, mozzarella and basil) and heartier ‘real Brit’ topped with sausage, roast potatoes and peppers. We liked the light and crispy base on our ‘pig and field’, which featured Italian ham from organic family charcuterie company Pedrazzoli. However, ‘Apollo 11’ with spicy salami, chilli and rocket on ricotta, lacked the expected spice kick and was too dry. The all-organic drinks list is an equally brief affair, with two Italian reds and two whites, two beers from London brewer Crate, apple juice, cola and lemonade.
The no-frills approach extends to the small, plain dining room, with no table service (order at the counter). But the no-nonsense setting and bargain prices – starting at £5.90 for the tomato and co (tomato, anchovies and olives) – will no doubt appeal to the hungry families of Nappy Valley.
