I have never left a review before, but this experience was so bad I felt I had to.
I also want to note it really pains me to write this in the current situation, where hospitality is in such a bad place and I have so much respect for the business owners that are managing to get through, that being said there is a degree of respect required.
I didn’t manage to attend my booking for Madame Pig due to the Covid restrictions, and as such I called first thing Sunday Morning to notify the restaurant and spoke to the manager to notify whether we should amend the booking date, or whether we could cancel without being charged a cancellation fee. We were advised to cancel the reservation and would not be charged and thank you for letting them know in advance. Fast forward two months and the manager charged me a full £50 cancellation fee two months after the event. So I got in contact and the attached messages, from the foul mouthed insensitive manager, highlighted that he was in fact in need of the money and decided to go back and charge me as a resort, not to make up for the lost table but to scam me o the money. I was willing to speak reasonably, and if he evidenced he had not been able to fill the table then I would pay the money, but he instead was vile over message, agreeing to pay me privately (is this a thing) as he was in too much debt to the booking company. Horrible owner/manager and definitely will never visit after hearing similar stories from other.
"Yes up to 28 days after the charge. But every customer so far has said the same, Who said you wouldn’t be charged? I can’t afford to re pay cancellation fees I can’t afford to keep my restaurant open I can’t afford to pay my staff I can’t afford to pay resy! If you want your cancellation fee back you can have it from my personal account but you won’t be dining at my restaurant cos I won’t have one"
"Resy does it, I don’t. Neither do I personally or business wise as I said that’s a hundredth of what I owe from the business. And personally haven’t paid rent for 2 months as I rather pay my staff."
