This London transplant of the original Parisian steakhouse is one of a handful in the capital, with a short menu which is perfect for indecisive diners. The menu focuses in on well-heeled signatures, starting with a helping of green salad with walnuts and mustard vinaigrette, before moving on to the star of the show: steak frites, in a sauce prepared to a secret recipe. The steak is served in two portions, allowing the second helping to remain warm while you tackle the first. Misplaced vegetarians can follow their salad with cheese and chips, while a longer dessert menu is replete with fresh profiteroles, crème brûlée and lemon tartelettes. Expect a succinct, all-French wine list to accompany the classic feel of the place, from its soft lighting and dark woods to the smartly dressed staff. No bookings are taken, so be prepared to queue at peak times, although service is nice and swift once you’re in.
