SquareMeal Review of Honey & Co

Silver Award

Freshness and subtle spicing are the hallmarks of Honey & Co’s relentlessly popular re-invigoration of Middle Eastern dining. Punters pack the diminutive room surrounded by shelves deep-laden with preserves, produce and cookbooks, while the kitchen delivers “adventure and flair” right through the day. Like the space itself, staff are warm and inclusive, showing a passion for a menu that blends comfort and care. Mezze is the smart sociable choice, with tables heaving under bowls of pillowy hummus, carrot falafels, braised aubergines, feta borek, house pickles, labneh, olives and home-baked breads – all before the mains arrive. Our roast lamb on a zingy grape and bulgur salad was highly enjoyable, though minced lamb with a tahini and yoghurt crust proved an indulgence too far. The iced teas are a booze-free delight and the cheesecake with Greek thyme honey is irresistible. Meanwhile, breakfast pastries are a “favourite pick-me-up” for one regular.

Just an amazing concept - deep rich flavours permeate every dish. Delightful energy in the restaurant and happily they've been able to expand to a larger space - Honey & Smoke. Both will transport you to another place whilst keep you coming back for more!

A hidden gem in Fitzrovia! I love this family run restaurant, which is intimate, warm and welcoming. The food is stunning and they change the menu's based on the seasons. If you are looking for the most delicious cake, then you have to buy their chocolate babka.

Very plain and unassuming setting which is often cramped. Can be overwhelmed but the food is stunning.

Bowl licking good. Never a dud dish. Flavorsome, rustic and morish. I go back again and again.

This is my absolute favourite go to restaurant in town – i seem to be there every two weeks for some bizarre reason whereas i made a resolute vow in my younger days not to go anywhere twice. Also, when cutting down on spending and high calorie dinners out, you need to be assured where you go really hits the mark. Anyhow, after eating practically everywhere it seems, everything can get a bit samey, but H&C definitely shows me something special that keeps me coming back. H&C is middle eastern food, food to be shared (though like Joey from Friends, me no share food!). Seriously though, what i love is that its fresh, and delicious and everything seems to have a whole lot of love put into it. I like the taste, the presentation, the feeling of not being bloated, and the contentment of having delicious food. Ive always managed to get a last minute booking but there are only about 20 covers so not much wiggle room if you arent organised. I can recommend the falafel, really moorish, the lamb shwarma which is beautifully presented and so much more than the usual kebabs one tries! The piece de resistance is the cheesecake – a sortof upside down cheesecake with the creamiest combination of feta and soft cheese you can imagine (its in the book, ive done it, and still order it!). The biscuits (pistachio and chocolate) are to die for, but personal trainers and biscuits dont go hand in hand… All i can say is H&C is definitely for the foodies who are bored of the same stuff out there, this is a place to be reckoned with. I only hope they keep it small and lovely, because i think the size/style is what makes it special, but who knows, this is a place deserved of every success.

This little place was my favourite for breakfast while in london, they do fab blueberry and sour cream buns, get there by 8 and they are still warm and the owners and staff were all really friendly and helpful.
