This craft beer pub is part of a new wave of bars and restaurants that are helping to transform the formerly run-down London Road area into a destination for Brighton’s hip crowd. The central 360-degree bar serves a changing line-up of keg and cask beers from some of Britain’s best brewers, including Firebird from Horsham and London’s Camden Town. Unpasteurised Meantime London Lager is piped fresh from the stainless-steel maturing tanks by the door. Local street-food hero La Choza runs the open kitchen, rustling up belly-filling Mexican food. The gloriously tender 14-hour smoked pulled pork is the pick of the fillings for your choice of burritos, tostadas and tacos, although you might have to wait a while before it arrives – the tiny kitchen sometimes struggles to keep up with orders. Slow and indifferent service is also an issue at the bar, which can be three-deep on busy nights.
