Following the success of their Beak Street original, the guys from Flat Iron have taken over the premises formerly occupied by La Giaconda. Like its sibling, this democratic steakhouse specialises in serving its namesake – an underrated shoulder cut of beef also known as ‘top blade’ or ‘butler’s steak’, presented on an oblong wooden board with a fun-sized meat cleaver for doing the business. Also expect some top sides, including dripping-cooked chips and garlicky spinach, as well as dinky salads. With steak-friendly wines offered by the glass, it’s sure to be another affordable treat for young-at-heart Londoners. No bookings.
