Founded by Irish-born restaurateur Patrick Frawley, the owner of The East London Pub & Co. group (which includes Camden’s The Lock Tavern and Clapham’s The Saxon among its portfolio), Coqbull Spitalfieds is a casual chicken and burger restaurant found inside the famous market.
Much like its sibling site in Soho, Coqbull Spitalfields is a lively and expansive space, with room for 120 patrons in the dining room, as well as an outdoor terrace and a 50-cover basement that is available to hire for private dining or late-night events. The restaurant is found on the former site of popular haunt Blixen, but the interiors have been transformed - the ground floor dining room is inspired by the neighbouring market and features bespoke furniture, neon lights and graffiti murals splashed across the walls. The cosy basement meanwhile has a speakeasy vibe, making it a shrewd choice for post-prandial drinks.
As for Coqbull Spitalfields menu, you can expect a celebration of all things meaty, in particular free-range rotisserie chicken and gourmet burgers. To begin, choose from starting dishes such as popcorn chicken or barbecue wings with an aioli dip. When it comes to main courses, pick between chicken or beef dishes - think southern fried chicken with coleslaw, chips and chicken gravy or a double beef patty topped with American cheese, crispy bacon, pickles and Coqbull sauce.
To round off your meal, choose a tempting dessert from the list which has been supplied by pudding experts Happy Endings. Satisfy any sweet tooth cravings with the likes of a waffle topped with crushed Oreos, ice cream and chocolate sauce or a warm cookie pan topped with a scoop of melting vanilla ice cream.
Drinks at Coqbull Spitalfields include house cocktails, wines and a range of local craft beers, while on weekends you can visit for a lively brunch.
