At lunchtime, the best bet is to pluck your chosen tipple from the shelves and carry it into the café or onto the terrace – the owners will happily let you take the remnants home, if you can’t glug the lot with your meal. Expect a Mediterranean accent on the all-day café menu: olives and hoummos are plundered from the deli counter for generous mezze plates, while croque monsieur and a changing roster of quiches typify the dishes from the kitchen. Salads such as chicken and avocado are big and fresh, and the homemade soup – served with crusty bread – is plentiful.
