The planet-conscious hipster chain from America has set up camp at The O2 alongside its three other sites in London (Soho, Covent Garden and Tower Hill), serving plant-based fast-food in eco-friendly packaging, using mindfully sourced ingredients. The mini-chain’s signature look of black and white-striped tile flooring, a deli counter, the menu on giant boards behind it, and metal table tops are apparent at this restaurant too, and the menu is familiar.
From it, you can order the likes of purely plant-based dishes – the guac burger, for instance, with the patty made with black bean, quinoa and sweet potato and served with corn salsa, onion, guacamole, tortilla strips, chipotle aioli in a whole-grain bun. Vegan interpretations of the classics, such as tofu ‘fish’ & chips, salt-baked celery root roast (both of which, come from the dedicated London menu), and pesto mushroom-made meatballs with marinara sauce, sweet peppers, basil pesto, cashew mozzarella and almond parmesan, are also available.
The salad options at By CHLOE range from quinoa taco to spicy Thai and the brunch menu includes everything from smoothie bowls, quinoa hash browns and pancakes, to scrambled tofu with spicy seitan chorizo, black bean salsa, avocado, tofu crème and whole-wheat tortilla.
Due to its O2 location, this is a fantastic spot to pop into for a pre-concert meal as it’s open for dinner, too. But the all-day menu means breakfast, brunch and lunch is also an option. There’s a wide range of juices, smoothies and hot and cold coffees as well, meaning a quick grab-and-go is possible.
The whole concept is fast-food styled, in that it’s counter ordering, paper crockery on a tray and service is casual, but the undeniably tasty (and not to mention healthy) grub makes it stand out from your average fast-food chain. This is not junk food, it’s funk-food – and we like it.
