With eight Essex sites already under its belt, restaurant group Elysium is now looking to attract the Made in Chelsea set with Zinnia. This new Asian-fusion venue occupies the split-level Fulham Road site that was previously home to 86 – but it is certainly no TOWIE vajazzle joint. Decor is grown-up and elegant: from a gold and mirrored bar that forms the centrepiece of the ground floor, to ceiling-mounted mirrors above the mezzanine. The menu also aims for unflashy stylishness; California rolls, salt and pepper squid and tempura prawns hardly constitute a rewrite of the rule book, but able cooking means that Zinnia’s versions are top-notch takes on the classics. Special mention should go to the umami-packing miso black cod with samphire, and a gorgeous, spongy coconut and mango dessert. Slick service, some killer sakés and a basement lounge complete a classy package that oozes moneyed fun.
