SquareMeal Review of
By-pass the restaurant out front and head to Zerodegrees’ rear entrance, where concrete floors, vast vats and a matrix of metal tubes and pipes are a stern statement of micro-brewing intentions.
Six craft varieties are made on the premises, including at least one seasonally rotating fruit beer, a cloudy German-style wheat ale, malty black lager, bitter but floral pale ale, a crisp take on
Czech pilsner, and – just to keep regulars interested – a monthly special. Consistently good moules-frites are spot-on with Zerodegrees’ boozy output, while Italian wines are in tune with the rest
of the pizza-based menu, which zooms from Italian sausage with onions or Parma ham and rocket to teriyaki chicken, Peking duck and caramelised pear with Gorgonzola. Real ale aficionados give the
place a wide berth at weekends, when it morphs into a raucous party spot.
